xAI Top-Model Odds Surge to 14% on $60 Billion SpaceX-Cursor Deal

Polymarket traders are repricing the likelihood of xAI achieving a top-tier industry ranking following a significant expansion of the company’s software and hardware ecosystem. The "Will xAI have a #1 AI model by June 30?" contract surged as the market absorbed high-stakes strategic moves intended to challenge the current dominance of Anthropic and OpenAI in the frontier model space.
The primary catalyst is the April 22 announcement that SpaceX, which now serves as the parent entity for Elon Musk’s AI interests, secured an option to acquire AI coding platform Cursor for $60 billion. According to reporting from PCMag and KuCoin, the deal integrates Cursor’s developer interface with xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, which recently reached a capacity of one million GPU equivalents. This follows the April 17 beta release of Grok 4.3, which demonstrated substantial gains in reasoning.
This technical momentum caused the contract price to surge from 11¢ to 14¢. With total volume reaching $0.5M, the contract now implies a 14% probability that xAI will claim the top spot by mid-year. Despite the move, xAI currently sits at #4 on the Arena.ai leaderboard, trailing the 1505 Elo rating held by the current leader, Anthropic’s Claude 4.7 Thinking.
Market participants are now focused on the June 30 deadline. The immediate outlook depends on whether the upcoming full release of Grok 4.3 can bridge the statistical gap in crowd-sourced Elo ratings before mid-year. Updates regarding the integration of Cursor’s agentic coding capabilities into the core Grok model will likely serve as the next major price mover for institutional participants.
